This is Bob. He is 40 years old and has a wife named Shelly who is 38. They have two kids. They have a boy named Scott who is 11 and a girl named Kate who is 9. They also have a dog name Toby.
Bob works at a construction company and just recently got fired because of budget cuts. His wife works at the State Credit Union, but they need more income to support their family.
Bob likes to play golf, Shelly enjoys running, Scott loves to play basketball, and Kate has become very interested in soccer. Bob is worried that since he lost his job he might not be able to provide for his family and allow them to do the things they love to do. Bob found out that he might qualify for unemployment insurance which would help him provide for his family during this difficult time.
Bob and Shelly went online to find out more information about unemployment insurance. They found out that unemployment insurance gives temporary financial assistance to those who were let go through no fault of their own. In order to qualify you must have worked in NC during the past 12 to 18 months and making at least minimum wage. You also have to be able to still work and look for jobs after you start receiving benefits.
Bob qualified for unemployment insurance and soon started receiving money from the government. This allowed him to provide for his family while he looked for a new job.
Within a few weeks Bob found a new job at a different construction company. He was able to stop using unemployment insurance and became self-sufficient again.
