Storyboard Text

  • In the boy's lockeroom...
  • I can't believe she's HIV+! I hope I don't catch it.
  • Men are expected to have certain roles and behaviors in society - this is called masculinity. I, like many others, had a skewed understanding of masculinity.
  • Ok everyone, listen up. What you did out there was wrong. She's can't change her HIV status.
  • But coach Slater, it's her fault, she has so many boyfriends.
  • In actual fact, men's sexual dominance and violence against women contribute greatly to the spread of HIV as well.
  • HIV is very common in our country, and it affects everyone.
  • Coach Slater taught us a very important lesson. HIV affects us all as a community, and we should be supportive and be aware of the effect our identities has on others.
  • I didn't test myself early enough because I was afraid that the disease would affect my masculine role in society.
  • You might not know this, but I am HIV+ I didn't tell anyone because I was afraid my male colleagues would discriminate against me.
  • Then I realized that being a man means knowing your status, protecting your spouse and yourself and being supportive instead of being prejudiced.
  • We're sorry Patricia
  • We would love to have you as our captain!
