" After making me read most of My First Reader and the stock-market quotations from The Mobile Register aloud, she discovered that I was literate and looked at me with more faint distaste." (Lee 22) Commentary: This quote shows that Scout is smart because it shows that Scout is the best reader in class. She is much more advanced then the other students in her class because her father teaches her at home. But Miss. Caroline did not like it and told her to stop reading at home.
He does not listen!
You do not listen!
" I would have saved myself some inconvenience and Miss Caroline subsequent mortification, but it was beyond my ability to explain things as well as Atticus, so I said " You're shamin' him, Miss Caroline." (Lee 28) Commentary: This quote shows that Scout is very honest because she is explaining to Miss Caroline why Walter cannot accept the money. And like she said in the beginning of this quote that it would have been better if she stayed quiet. But she couldn't help it but tell her the truth.
Scout Let's go
Come on Scout hurry! let's go!
" He would probably have poured it into his milk glass had I not asked him what the sam hill he was doing." (Lee 32) Commentary: This quote proves that Scout is very feisty because if she sees something she does not like. She is not afraid to say something about it. She will say anything that is on her mind."
Don't you dare do it
" I beat him up twice but it did no good, he only grew closer to Jem." (Lee 55) Commentary: This quote shows that Scout is very aggressive because she is always fighting all the time. Usually for her fighting is the answer as you can see in this quote. Even though when she fights she notices that nothing happens."
"Dill and Jem dived beside me. Jem's breath came in sobs: " fence by the schoolyard!-hurry, Scout!" (Lee 71) Commentary: This quote shows that scout is brave because it shows that Jem and Dill were very scared. When Scout seemed to have less of a reaction and only got worried when Scout and Dill told her to run. But she is very brave to even be in that type of situation."
" You do and I'll wake up Atticus. You do and I'll kill you." (Lee 74) Commentary: This quote shows that Scout is stubborn because she will not go away until she gets what she wants. And when this usually happens she threats them to get what she wants. She never backs down.
