A Shocking Accident by: Graham Greene Mya Johnson 3rdbblock 5/3/18
Jerome is a poor little boy who misses his father. He told untrue stories concerning his father. When something bad happened he was shocked.
The housemaster Mr.Wordsworth was nervous about telling Jerome about his father. Jerome thought his father was shot because Mr.Wordsworth said it was an "street accident". Continuously telling what happened shocking Jerome and also his outburst of thoughts shocked the housemaster.
Jerome finds out his father has passed away, and when he hears how its shocks his heart. He doesnt know how to take it or tell anyone. He makes up multiple stories except for the real story. He even hides it from his soon to be wife thinking she would laugh at him.
Jerome is finally happy. He is also in love , his wife finally got the truth. Everyone was happy for him and because he could trust her they were getting married in peace. Later while talking about their stories they enjoyed hearing eachother and was more in love.
The theme of "A Shocking Accident" are the absurdity or triviality of death. Jerome transformation shows how a boy grows into a man. I actually enjoyed the whole story.
