  • William Myers Should Andrew Jackson be on the $20 bill? It is to my belief that Andrew Jackson should stay on the $20 bill. Creating america textbook UsHistory.org history.com
  • Hey steven, have you heard about jacksonian democracy?
  • Well did you know that andrew jackson used this to better his relations with the people and help him win presidency?
  • You mean the idea that the majority rule should decide things. yes, that was one of andrew jackson's most popular ideas.
  • yes i did know that. the fact that he gave the people a chance to rule over judgments was very generous of him and makes him a good person to be on our $20 bill. here walk with me ill tell you more.
  • Oh I know about this, Jackson used this to his advantage so more gov. officials would agree with him.
  • Tell me something about the spoils system
  • well, the spoils system was the system in which presidents would place certain people in gov. jobs. Andrew Jackson also did this.
  • Even though the great things Jackson did were great, this was one of his downfalls making it so the things that he wanted would pass. pretty selfish.
  • So he did some bad. What about the indian removal policy?
  • Right, this is where he used it to his advantage to gain more land for the U.S.
  • Well, the indian removal policy was jacksons idea that all indians should either be removed from land or join the U.S.
  • Exactly, this is one of his biggest achievments. without him, we would not have land that makes up the U.S. that we know today. Another reason he is on our 20 bill and always will be.
  • Oh right, that was one of the movements where jackson proved he could stand alone against everyone else and save the nation from going into maham.
  • Wait so what about states rights?
  • Well, states rights was a movement that the states could nullify laws. Of course jackson had to tackle this head on.
  • Yes, since Jackson didn't let states do what ever they wanted, he upheld the law and saved the law. Thus he was put on the $20 bill and deserves to be.
  • Jackson did this because he believed that the opposition to the bank had gotten support. putting himself in a clear advantage.
  • Ok, do what he did was he took the money out of the national bank and put it in a less known but less targeted place. Saving the peoples money. That is why he is on our $20 bill
  • Ok, last talking point. War on national banks. I think I've got this.
  • Ok, the war on national banks was the campaign that Jackson had started to destroy the 2nd national bank.
  • ok, ok. good. But what in turn did this lead to for america.
  • Nice, Good. Well this is my stop. thanks for talking.
