  • Extreme longshot to take in the entire scene. There is a boat sailing on the ocean - returning from battle with victory to the cheering and awaiting crowd on the shore
  • Longshot to take in the action on the boat. A bleeding, dead body lies on the deck with another man kneeling next to him in tears and full of dispair
  • Longshot to take in the action, the people and the buildings. On the land, the crowds are celebrating and exulting their captain. Bells are chiming and people are shouting in pure joy
  • Medium shot to focus on the two main members of the poem. It takes in the boat and emotion from the poet as well as emphasising the death of the captain
  • Close up - captures the poets facial emotions as he attempts to deal with his loss
  • Longshot to capture the crowd on the deck, the sea, dead body and mourning friend. People begin mourning the death of their captain. The poet gets up and walks off - leaving behind the cold and dead body of his captain
