Some Gothic Convention
"Gothic" is used to describe Germanic tribes, or the crazy people that attacked Rome. In England, Gothic was used to describe things that are chaotic and superstitious.
Horace Walpole was the author of the first Gothic novel, (The Castle of Otranto). It was published in 1764 and it was inspired by a nightmare Walpole had.
Ex. Murder in a gloomy setting, secret passage ways, and ruined castles with cemeteries nearby.
Gothic Architecture is the details in buildings, pointed arches, and narrow spires. An example would be a castle a mansion, and old temples.
