  • Exposition
  • Rising Action 1
  • Rising Action 2
  • One day two gods named Poseidon and Athena had a contest to see who could provide the better gift for the people. Poseidon gifted the people with everlasting water while Athena the wiser god gave the people an olive tree to give them oils and food. Athena won the contest, so the people named the city Athens. Poseidon was the god of the sea and his job was to provide fresh water from Earth. Poseidon was known for his bad temper and feared for his ability to cause earthquakes. Athena was the god of wisdom and pot making along with wool-working.
  • Rising Action 3
  • After Athena had won the contest people stopped praising Poseidon which angered Poseidon because the people now favored Athena. Poseidon decided the people must praise him if he starts causing problems, so Poseidon stopped giving the people fish to eat. The people began to become hungry and had to find a new resource of food to eat. This is when the people realized that Athena had given them an olive tree. The people started to rely on olives to eat. Poseidon could not think of any ways to further torture the humans, so he went to Athena for advice. Athena took pity on him so she told him if it is praise that you want then you shall flood the city of Athens. Poseidon took Athena’s advice and caused a humongous tidal wave flooding the city of Athens. When the flood ended a mortal named Steve shouted out, “hey thanks for the free water” this outraged Poseidon he said if it is water you want then you shall be a shark forever having all the water you could ever want.
  • Climax
  • The people came back outside begged him to stop. Poseidon stood there laughing while watching them cry in misery and pain. Athena came down being sent from Zeus and asked him why he was causing all this mayhem. Poseidon said they deserved this they were treating me like a lame dumb mortal. Athena then laughed at his stupidity and said, “you are as dumb as a piece of bark resting on the floor, you know nothing”!

  • Poseidon says to himself if the gods don’t love me then all the people shall love me. Just as the fish shall love the shark for, he brings down their population when it grows to high. Poseidon then creates a humongous storm, which starts pouring down rain. The people's fires started to go out and they start freezing to death. Poseidon then brought a war upon himself. The people starting bonding together and protesting that Poseidon is not worthy of being a god for all he does is bring misery and pain among us. Poseidon tells the people that he is sorry for his actions and that he just gets so lonely in the ocean with no one to talk to but a bunch of fish. The people looked at him as worried as a lioness would look at her cub. The people started to feel sorry for him and told him that any time he needed someone to talk to they would be there for him. Suddenly Poseidon is the most loved god in all of Greece. Poseidon is then happy that all is solved and that he finally has another companion other than a fish. The people and Poseidon made a deal that he would not harm the people if he would also be treated like any other god, the people agreed. Later that day Athena came down and said he is as lonely as the moon in the night sky. The people laughed with Athena as they continued to make jokes about Poseidon. Poseidon came back to say a final goodbye to the people and heard them talking about him, and Poseidon approached Athena and said you were right I really am as dumb as a log.
  • The people of Athens learned that all gods needed to be treated equal even if they are wrong. The people from then on watched their mouths around Poseidon in fear of becoming a shark.
