Rising Action 2
maybe we should turn back the nitre and your cough
ok how about some wine to help
no the Amatillado!
our unreliable Narrator, Montressor starts off our story. Montressor wants revenge on a man named Fortunato for injuring him and insulting him. Montressor finds Fortunato at carnival.
Montressor what are you doing! The amontillado!
Montressor finds Fortunato at the carnival drunk and dressed as a jester. Montressor proceedes to tell him of wine a man named lucressi sold to him called Amatillado. Fortunato and lucressi do not like each other so when fortuando hears that Montessor isnt sure of the wine he knows he needs to look at it.. Montressor knows that he would do this and is using lucressi as his lure.
Montessor and Fortunato arrive at the catacombs. Montessor warns Fortunato of the niter and that mixed with his cough will make him worse. Fortunato insist they go down anyways. As they go down Montressor gives Fortunato Wine to "make him better", which gets him more drunk. Montressor keeps faking empathy and encouraging they go back as a form of manipulation. They then reach the bottom of the catacombs where there is a small niche built ahead of time. Montressor tells Fortuato the wine is right through there.
to this day Fortunado has not to be seen by anyone. its been this way for 50 years.
As Fortunato and Montressor get to the bottom of the catacombs Montressor tells the amatillado is behind the niche. While Fortunato looks for the case of wine Montressor hurrys up and chains him to the wall. Montressor finds his materials and tools to build a wall and trap him in.
Fortunato starts to sober up as Montressor chains him the wall. Montessor starts building a wall to trap Fortunato in but Fortunato starts screaming for help and they start screaming back and forth. As Montressor puts the last block on he calls for Fortunato, no answer but the jangling of his hat. Montessor puts the last block on and goes back up stairs.
our Narrator, Montressor ends our story with telling us how Fortunato is still in the niche to this day. Fortunato has been down there for 50 or more years. No one has even gone down there sense. We don't know who Montressor is confessing to because he is unreliable.
