  • Amontillado, A pipe? Impossible! And in the middle of the carnival!
  • good good, now let us continue onto the amontillado
  • So what was your family's motto I seem to have forgotten

  • In the beginning of the story Fortunato was. Fortunato had insulted Montressor for the last time, but it was never told in the story what Fortunato had said to anger Montressor. For unbeknownst to him, Montressor vowed his revenge. Montressor knowing Fortunato works as a wine tester he knew he should have wine as part of his plan.
  • Climax
  • yes, yes the amontillado
  • Montressor heads out to the carnival in the hopes of finding Fortunato. After finding Fortunato dressed as a jester, Montressor decides to start his plan. he tells Fortunato that he had gotten a amontillado and he was going to ask Luchres to inspect the amontillado instead of Fortunato which made Fortunato want to try the amontillado. The irony in this part of the story is that Fortuato is dressed as a jester which is symbolizing Montressor fooling Fortunato.
  • Falling Action
  • After telling Fortunato about the amontillado, Fortunato went with Montressor to try the "amontillado". The niter in the catacombs made fortunato's cold worse. The catacombs were filled with bones and corpses, but Fortunato is to drunk to realize. While they get deeper into the cave Montressor keeps giving Fortunato wine to get him more drunk than what he already is. once at the deepest point in the catacomb, Montressor tells Fortunato that the amontillado is in the niche and Fortunato puts his head into the niche and get stuck. the Irony in this part of the story is Montressor telling Fortunato his family's crest saying "no one attacks me with impunity." because Fortunato was the one who hurt him and Montressor his going to get revenge.
  • Resolution
  • no one had found his body for half a century
  • Montressor chains Fortunato to the wall. Fortunato only thinks that Montressor is fooling around and he still has the amontillado. After Fortunato finally realizes whats going on he begins to sober up. Montressor starts to wall in Fortunato using his materials.
  • and the amontillado?
  • After starting to build the wall Fortunato starts to feel bad about murdering Fortunato after hearing Fortunato struggle to get free from the chains. Fortunato screams at Montressor, but Montressor screams back at Fortunato even louder. before finishing the wall Montressor hears a jingle of bells so Montressor calls for Fortunato's name but he hears no response back. Montressor gets a last view of Fortunato before finishing the wall.

  • No one had Found Fortunato's body for half a century.The theme of the story is the need for revenge is a strong motivator. the internal conflict is Montressor's desire of getting revenge for Fortunato making fun of him. The theme of the story is the need for revenge is a strong motivator .
