Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Rising Action One
  • Rising Action Two
  • The setting of the story is in a small village. The story takes place in June and the author describes the warm summer day and green grass. All of the characters seem to know one another and speak politely to each other as they enter the town square in anticipation of the lottery. All of this creates a calm or pleasant mood. However, the author adds foreshadowing by having the young boys gather stones.
  • Climax
  • The Lottery starts and Tessie shows up late. The head of the family (male) picks for their family. After the men come back from picking, some of them stand separeatly from their family.  After everyone picks, Mr Summers announces "Everyone show your cards."
  • Falling Action
  • Everyone was in shock. Mr.Hutchinson picked the card with the mark. Tessie offered her oldest daughters family instead. Mr Summers replied with, " She has her own family and she isn't the head of it so nor her or her family can draw."
  • Resolution
  • The Hutchinson's had to draw individually now. First up was the youngest child their son. He went up and everyone was silent. He picked a card and it was blank. He was safe.
