The story starts in Montresor's catacombs. Explaining how Fortunto insulted him. Then Montresor vowed revenge on Fortunato.
Where is the Amontillado.
The story starts with the setting of 17th Italy in the middle of the carnival season. Then Montresor found Fortunato and told him he brought a cask of amontillado. Then Montresor tricked Fortunato to go to his catacombs using Luchresi's name. Ironically Fortunato is dressed as a jester and he was tricked.
In the second part of the rising action Montresor leads Fortunato into his catacombs. While getting deeper into the catacombs Fortunato cold gets worse. This is ironic because Fortunato will die of a cold. In order to keep Fortunato unaware of whats happing Montresor gives him wine
In the climax of the story Montresor tricks Fortunato to go into a niche in the deepest part of the catacombs. Then Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall. Then starts to trap him in with a wall
There was no Amontillado fool.
In the falling action Fortunato sobers up and realized he was tricked. Then Fortunato is telling Montresor how it was a good joke even though it wasn't a joke. So, Fortunato realized he wasn't leaving so he screamed and Montresor screamed louder. Then Montresor put the last brick on killing Fortunato.
At the resolution we learn that Fortunato body was left untouched for fifty years. The last jingle means he was tricked for the last time and he is dead. The theme of the story is that revenge is a strong motivator which made Montresor kill Fortunato. The internal conflict is Montresor's need for revenge .
