This is the choir that's being led by Jack
These boys all get abandoned on a remote island after their plane crashed. They are a group of middle class children from the ages of 6-12 years old.
The boys all got together to start a fire after electing their chief, Ralph. The fire's purpose was to signal any passing boats or aircraft. The fire plays a key role in giving them hope that they will be rescued. Another key concept is when Ralph and his friend Piggy found the conch. The conch is blown by the chief when he wants to hold a meeting and during the meeting, the person that wants to talk must hold the conch. In this way, the conch symbolizes civilization and the effects of modern society.
While out exploring the forest, a pig ran out of the trees and Jack attempted to stab it and kill it after a moment's hesitation. This was a sign of his civilized behavior faltering. He was now fiercely determined to kill the pig next time. This bought him some admiration and respect from the other boys.
