Storyboard Text

  • Doodle was in class ready to answer when derrick threw his red ball at Doodle which hurts Doodle a lot because he is still very fragile. The teacher didn't do anything about it and he just stood there continuing his lesson.
  • So Doodle decided to take things to his own hands and tell the principal. Yet, all the principal did was tell Derrick to not do it again. This shows the carelessness of the adults just like the parents in "The Scarlet Ibis".
  • Do not repeat such precarious actions.
  • Derrick obviously did not like the fact that Doodle "snitched". So while going to the bus derrick beats Doodle up, but Doodle's brother does not do anything about it because he doesn't want to show his friends his "disabled brother".
  • YOU SNITCH!!
  • OW!! PLEASE STOP!!
  • Pride. Remember your pride. Don't embarrass yourself in front of your friends
  • Doodle's brother decided that to have an even better pride he is going to train his brother. If it was out of affection he would have given him breaks, but he worked him so hard and was screaming at him constantly that there was no way it was from affection. This shows the selfishness and older brotherhood from "The Scarlet Ibis"
  • c'mon you are so dogged!!
  • you got this. Faster!!
  • Doodle's brother realised that he was a little down and so he encouraged him to make sure he wins not to make him feel better. Then Doodle says something about how he feels this is wrong, but his brother ignored him and talked about how he just saw a bird escape from a snake. This is like how the Ibis died and then Doodle died, but this time the "Ibis" survived and was successful and that foreshadows Doodle winning
  • Look! That bird escaped from that snake
  • Hey, you winning is iminent, ok. You got this!
  • I just think this is a little bit of a heresy
  •  Here you see that Doodle has transformed not just physically, but also mentally. He liked the feeling of him having power, and talks to himself about how good being a bully feels like. This shows a shift in power and causes the reader to think about how such changes would affect the story from there.
  • What is this exotic feeling!? Is this what it feels like to be a bully? I like it!
  • Oh no! What have i done?! He is the bully now!
