So I’m sure you all have heard about the attendance problem in Smith’s class, does anyone have any ideas on how we can fix this?
I have an idea, we can make a partnership plan with the nearby restaurants, every student with perfect attendance for more than a month will get a gift card for 30% off every meal, at any restaurant nearby of their choice
That is a good idea! This is a perfect example of positive reinforcement, because a favorable outcome is given after the wanted behaviour.
Since students love extracurriculars and field trips, perhaps we could tell students that if their attendance is not up to par, they will not be permitted to participate in any extracurricular activities or attend any field trips.
Anybody have any other ideas?
Excellent! With this method of negative punishment, a favourable event is being taken away after the unwanted behaviour to prevent the likelihood of the behaviour from ever happening.
I have an idea sir, any student with good attendance shown consistently through the semester, at the end will be able to boost the mark of any one class of their choice. That way an incentive is given to students to make them want to go to class
These are all wonderful ideas! We will put them into effect immediately and see if they help Mr.Smith with his dilemma.
