Man who works for the Church: It's true! Buy your loved one an Indulgence and have them be saved!
95 Theses
I know what I'll do! I'll propose the proper ways of the church and the ways of God . Not this foolishness!
Indulgence? Do these people not know that God is their only savior?
Luther begins to write 95 theses...
Pope's Threat
Luther: Haha! Okay, My word has already been spread. That's all I needed! So, let's see who's on who's side.
Villagers: oooooooo..... You're seeing this right?
Pope: If you don't take back those statements immediately, you will have to pay the price! You will no longer be a member of the Church until you do as I say!
An indulgence was a grant by the Pope that made people believe if you bought this pardon/indulgence, your loved one will be saved from all of their sins and save them from punishment In the Afterlife. Luther was not happy with this idea because it wasn't the true way of God, and he knew the Church was just selling those Indulgences for money.
Luther's Revenge
Luther wrote the 95 theses because he was unhappy with Church's sale of indulgences/pardon. This 95 theses contained many questions and propositions for debate with the Church. The most important thing Luther had to do was make sure the people heard the truth, which was spread very quickly.
Luther was declared an outlaw/heretic
The Pope didn't like how Luther was proposing opposing ideas of the correct ways of the Church. He especially didn't like how Luther's ideas began to spread and people started switching sides. So, the Pope issued a decree and threatened Luther with excommunication of the Church if he didn't take his statements back.
Luther's Return
Luther and his students from Wittenberg burned the decree given to Luther by the Pope in a fire pit. Luther was not fazed by the threat and continued to spread God's true rules.
