Kirra is a 14 year old Aboriginal girl. When she was 6 years old the white police sent her to a government school were she was away from her family and always abused by her mentors. She went through things that no other child has been through.
when she turned 13 she was allowed to go back home. She ran to her father and embraced him warmly. She was surprised not to see her mother there but thought nothing of it at the moment. She was so happy to be back home. Then she noticed her father avoiding her eyes. It was then she noticed that something might have happened
After Kirras father leads her inside he quietly whispers to her that there is something that she needs to know. Then he told her that her mother was shot by the white police. After that they both start crying for a long time
On Kirras first day of school she was very worried because she did not know anyone. She already knew that she was going to go through a hard time because she was Aboriginal but she did not expect it to be that hard. Everyone was avoiding her or giving her dirties or giving her mean comments. she really did not know what to do.
When she got home she was very upset because she made no friends. She thought that someone will at least talk to her but she was wrong.
The next day, at school, Kirra was happy that a girl in her class was interested about her. Kirra told the girl everything that she had been through. The rest of the class was listening to their conversation in awe.
