  • Symbolism is demonstrated in both the story and cell. Marley's chains symbolize the bad deeds that he has done while he was alive. Marley shows that the chains were still bound by him even after death. Marley tells Scrooge that he too has chains, and that if Scrooge does not change his actions he will have the same fate.
  • Theme
  • "I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all year.I will live in the Past, the Present, and the future...all three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach" (663).

  • The theme is demonstrated in mostly the story. In the story theme is the importance of family and love. Scrooge has changed, he promises that he will keep Christmas and the people around him dear to him. Scrooge will not go back to being the man he used to be, using the wisdom of the three spirits as guidance, scrooge will now live in the past, present and future.
  • The children by the ghost of Christmas present are want an ignorance. The girl was want, want symbolized how poor people wanted and needed things.Even if those things were the basic needs. The boy ignorance symbolizes how poor people did not not get any type of education and how the people and prisoners in England are being ignored by its country.
