  • The protagonist is grieving over the fact they will never see their lover, Lenore, again. 
  • Falling Action
  • Nev'rm're
  • Protagonist hears a rapping on the door, but when he opens the door no one is there. He goes back upstairs and finds a raven at the window.
  • Resolution
  • The protagonist asks if he will ever see Lenore again and the Raven says,"Nevermore."
  • Conflict
  • The protagonist asks if the Raven will leave and the Raven says,"Nevermore."
  • The protagonist will find his soul, metaphorically,trapped because he knows he will never see Lenore again. The Raven never leaves the protagonist.
  • The conflict is the grief that the protagonist feels over his lost love and that said grief is tearing him apart. Lenore leaving him and the effect it had on him and his sanity is the conflict.
