  • The Energy Cycle  By: Nancy Phillips
  • If a volcanic eruption happened and covered up all of our sunlight, photosynthesis would stop forcing cellular respiration to stop as well.
  • This is an example of what the world would look like:
  • This is because with no sunlight, the plant can not do the process of photosynthesis. One of the reactants of photosynthesis is sunlight along with water and carbon dioxide. Without it, the plant can not do its job.
  • Photosynthesis makes oxygen and glucose. These are the reactants of cellular respiration which happens in plants and animals.
  • So if photosynthesis stops, it will stop making what is needed for cellular respiration which makes cellular respiration stop too.
  • Correct!
  • Guess what! Humans are considered animals too. So not only would they die, for we would die also. This is because we would not get the food or oxygen we need to survive.
  • WOAH
  • Let me get this straight. Sunlight helps photosynthesis. Without it, animals and plants can not do the process of cellular respiration because it needs what photosynthesis makes. If cellular respiration stops, whatever it is, it will die because it does not get whet it needs.
  • Good job, Billy. You get it now!
