  • The outbreak of World War I led to conflicts towards Russia. Their soldiers didn't have enough supplies, and factories couldln't make supplies. Russia's tranportation also downgraded. By 1915, their soldiers were badly equipped, resulting in a high number of deaths during this period of time. 
  • Gregory Rasputin was an illiterate peasant who helped the tsarina's son who suffered from hemophilia. His influence weakened the government. Fearing the monarchy, a group of Russians killed Rasputin on December 29, 1926. 
  • Russia's monarchy began to collapse due to the disasters of the battlefield, along with food and fuel shortages. The February Revolution began in 1917, which workers were on a strike over the scarcity of food in St. Petersburg. The Duma politicians eventually set up a temprorary government, where Russia continued to go to war with Germany.
