The outbreak of World War I led to conflicts towards Russia. Their soldiers didn't have enough supplies, and factories couldln't make supplies. Russia's tranportation also downgraded. By 1915, their soldiers were badly equipped, resulting in a high number of deaths during this period of time.
Gregory Rasputin was an illiterate peasant who helped the tsarina's son who suffered from hemophilia. His influence weakened the government. Fearing the monarchy, a group of Russians killed Rasputin on December 29, 1926.
Russia's monarchy began to collapse due to the disasters of the battlefield, along with food and fuel shortages. The February Revolution began in 1917, which workers were on a strike over the scarcity of food in St. Petersburg. The Duma politicians eventually set up a temprorary government, where Russia continued to go to war with Germany.
