The story of Shago merged with a description of the different phases in a short story.
Shago is lean and sharp as a knife blade!
Shago's sight is worse than a mole's.
HA HA HA!
The boys were playing baseball on the sand by the lake with the winds whispering around them when Shago pitched. He always did really good pitches and hit far.
Shago's pitches began to be not so great and he started to lose his sight.
His sight got worse and he got glasses, but the boys made fun of them so he barely ever wore them.
Conclusion / Resolution
The summer found him quitting baseball because he lost most of his sight.
Shago stopped going to school because he couldn't read anymore, making it pointless for him to go. He had fingers as light as Jack be Nimble so he went to work clearing fishing hooks.
It was spring and a few plucky crickets had started their fiddling when Shago went fully blind. The boys felt bad for making fun of him, because if they hadn't he would have worn his glasses more and not have gotten blind.
