Students, today we are going to practice being innovative designers!
What does that mean?
First of all, it means that you can define a real world problem and it's constraints. Then you can brainstorm ideas and create a plan.
How do we create our plan?
Well, you will use digital tools that help you manage your ideas like mind mapping or tools that help you manage restraints like budgeting with spreadsheets.
After we've created and recorded our plan, what do we do?
You get to test your plan by creating a prototype! You will use the results of the test to refine your plan. Engineers repeat the design process in a cyclical way to create the best version possible.
We design prototypes?! What if our design isn't working?
That's part of real problem solving and being an innovative designer. Sometimes our design doesn't work or the big picture isn't visible to you. The important thing is keep trying to find a solution within the constraints we know.
Are you ready to be innovative designers?
