  • The Compromise allowed California into the union as a free state, Texas would give up its claims on New Mexico territory, for $10 million. Any territories gained by the Mexican Cession would have to decide by popular sovereignty. Traded slaves in Washington D.C. wasn't allowed , but slaves were still permitted, and the fugitive salve act become more strict.
  • What was the compromise of 1850?
  • Due to the compromise, we got California, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, etc. Which made more people migrate West.
  • Where?
  • The North and South NEED to stay unified!
  • Impact?
  • Not the best, but it'll do for now!
  • This does NOTTT give the South the protection it needs, it might lead to having to secede.
  • The South is happy because the fugitive slave act got stronger, North got California as a free state.
