Storyboard Text

  • The Seljuk Turks were Central Asian people who moved to Muslim lands. They conquered many lands and were advancing on Constantinople. The threat they posed led to the crusades
  • Four nobles lead 30,000 soldiers on the first crusade. They eventually gained control of Antioch. Then the crusaders forced Jerusalem to surrender. Those who stay established four crusader kingdoms.
  • The Christians are victorious!
  • Together!!
  • A army from Germany attempted to take Anatolia, but the Muslims had united and won. A second army from France was then beat in an attempt to win Jerusalem.
  • Eventually the Muslims came under one rule, the rule of Salah al-Din. He won Jerusalem and united Egypt, Syria, and countrys in the east. 
  • GO!!
  • Attack!!
  • King Richard mounted the second crusade and won back the city of Acre. He then tried to capture Jerusalem, but either side couldn't defeat one another. So they signed a peace treaty.
  • Retreat!!
  • None of the later crusades won back Jerusalem but, finally the Christians took Acre which was the last crusader city.
