  • At the beginning of the book the setting takes place in Central Europe specifically London. Sherlock lives with his aunt and uncle at the Holmes Manor. As the story develops Sherlock and his brother travel to Moscow, Russia. The setting changes through the book from a railway to a five star hotel and everything else in between.
  • Rising Action A
  • Sherlock Holmes is a 14 year old boy who is interested in solving mysteries and logic related activities. He is cunning, intelligent, and humble . Amyus Crowe is another important character in Black Ice. He is Sherlock and Mycroft's teacher and mentor in life . He teaches them useful life skills. Mycroft Holmes is Sherlock's brother who is similar in character to Sherlock. Rufus Stone is Sherlocks violin tutor who works for Mycroft and the government.
  • Rising Action B
  • The conflict in this story is that innocent Mycroft is suspected by the police to be a vicious murderer who killed his boss. Thought out the book Sherlock needs to find a way to prove Mycroft's innocence with his friend Rufus Stone by his side .During this proses Sherlock and Rufus encounter many other conflicts such as being chased by the Parol Chamber and other gangs that are trying to stop them from finding out the truth.
  • Resolution
  • The first rising action occurs while Sherlock is in Russia and is being framed for pick-pocketing. Next, the secret police chase him all through the filthy streets of Moscow, however he evades the police by hiding in a manhole. Once in the manhole, Sherlock has to travel up stream through the freezing water to avoid the police who is on his trail.
  • The second rising action occurs while Sherlock and Rufus Stone arive at the site where Mycroft is being held captive. Mr.Kyte from the Chamber is using his trained falcon to kill Shuvalov. Sherlock attempts to distract the deadly falcon by throwing a dead mouse in the air and making the falcon retireve the mouse instaead of taking orders from Mr.Kyte.
  • The resolution in this story occurs when Sherlock distracts the falcon from killing Count Shuvalov by throwing a dead mouse in the air.The Parole Chamber gets information from Sherlock and then tells him thire plan to murder Count Shuvalov. Then Sherlock and Rufus contact the police and the true murderer is reveled. Finally, Macroft is released.
