Storyboard Text

  •  What did Romeo tell you, or did he respond with a letter?
  • I was not allowed into Mantua due to an outbreak of the Plague
  • Then who gave my letter to Romeo?
  • "I could not send it, here it is again, nor get a messenger to bring it thee, so fearful were they of infection"
  • The past two scenes are examples of situational irony because Friar Lawrence was expecting to have a message or letter from Romeo because he sent Friar John to deliver his message and receive Romeo's, but Friar John told him he was never able to reach Romeo so he doesn´t have a letter or message.
  • A character trait for Friar John is honesty because he wasn't able to get the letter to Romeo but he still tried and he told Friar Lawrence that
  • The beginning of the line when it says "Unhappy Fortune" this is an example of an oxymoron because Friar Lawrence is comparing the negative feeling of being unhappy to the positive feeling of being lucky and having a chance
  • "Unhappy fortune! "Of dear import, and the neglecting it, may do much danger ."
  • "But I will write again to Mantua, and keep her at my cell till Romeo come."
  • Characterization: Friar Lawrence is trustworthy, kind hearted and loyal because all though the letter didn't get to Romeo, he is continuing to go on with the plan to help both Romeo and Juliet
