  • The Declaration of Independence was signed first by John Hancock on July 4th 1776, but it wasn't signed by the rest of the leaders of the revolution like Jefferson, George Mason, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and George Washington until August 2nd.

  • The war continued on with many famous and important battles being fought on the eastern colonies like: the battle of Trenton that brought defeat to the British after New York and New Jersey and the battle of Saratoga that convinced the French to help out the Americans against Britain.
