Storyboard Description

In studying the research regarding the domestication of the fox, which happened over a time period of less that 60 years! This is a very short evolutionary time period but to understand and appreciate how quickly it happened we should consider the Gray Wolf. Most dogs can be traced back to the Gray Wolf. Scientists estimate this evolution took about 14,000 years in order to domesticate the wolf into what we now recognize as the dog.

  • Hi! My name is Nashika and I am currently studying the research around the domestication of foxes.
  • The evolution of foxes being domesticated happened in a very short time span. Less than 60 years! In order to appreciate this relatively short time span, we need to contrast it with that of the Gray Wolf being domesticated into the dog.
  • The Evolution and Domestication of the Gray Wolf
  • Scientists believe that the Gray Wolf went through an evolutionary time span of 14,000 years in order to become what we now recognize as the domesticated dog.
  • Hold (I will need more than just six story board cells but did not want to purchase the program. For the next few slides I will go over the evolution and the domestication of the Gray Wolf using the art and article that my contact at Wolf Haven gave me. I may or may not include some of the audio from the interview.)
  • Hold (I plan on bringing this back to the dog and ending with my own dog and tying this to the domestication of foxes and how you can now own them as pets when they are from the Institute where the research stems from.
