Shazia, look I just found these logs I think they will be great for the campfire, but they are kinda wet. Anyways I put them in.

Great, well done Robert, look what you've done. Thanks to you the fire is burning much slower then it was before. This is because the logs were damp and everyone knows fire evaporates the water so the fire will first have to evaporate all the water from the wet log then the fire will come back to its normal state.

OK, I get it. Shazia I challenge you to prove to me and show me that particle size does affect the rate of reaction.
OK, so this is what I did, I took DRY wood from a dead tree and separated it into two parts. Part A was wood in the form of chunks and powder. Part B were just branches of wood.
The result was that the wood in Part A burned down faster than Part B this is because there were more particles in A than B.
