  • I wanted to sleep a bit longer, as I keep having the same dream but I never seen the ending.

  • This dream, laid the foundation for what is to happen next in Santiago's life. It will heighten Santiago's curiosity, and eventually he will become more understanding of the world around him. The dream also had a lot of symbolic significance, one being desire and for Santiago it was traveling.

  • This was a great lesson for Santiago, he leant to not be so trusting of others. The situation, also developed Santiago's character, giving him a new outlook on world around him. The obstacle was important in measuring his

  • " Maybe we had better end this!"
  • Facing challenges are inevitable, and Santiago faced many challenges on his journey. This was a to show his perseverance and how he coped with change. His success was dependent on his own strength. The road to greater things is usually long and challenging, this was the time to learn this.
  • Wild Goose Chase of the Treasure
  • " Leave him. He doesn't have anything else. He must have stolen this gold
  • Being able to interpret the message of the hawks, was essential to the lives at the oasis. It was a test to Santiago abilities, and a central part of him becoming one with the soul of the world.
  • Santiago needed to rid himself of all the self-doubt, and realize the abilities he honed. The significance of the moment was to show Santiago's union with the Soul of the World. He had once again preserved his own life, the journey will continue.
  • Right place at the wrong time, wrong place at the right time. It was mandatory that Santiago underwent this misfortune. Had he not gone through this, he would not have learned the true location of the treasure.
