  • Hi i´m George Washington. A plantation owner who served as and commander-in-chief of the colonial armies during the American Revolutionary War And became the first president of the United States
  • In 1779 George Washington ordered uniforms for soldiers in the Continental Army. They consisted of of blue coats, white waistcoats and facings of varying colors
  • The Continental Army faced many disadvantages, such as a constant shortage of money, weapons, gun powder, food, clothing, and medicine.
  • The Advantages the Continental army had that they were fighting for a grand cause, their independence,. In addition to this, the colonists also had a militia that was highly skilled in guerrilla-style warfare. The Continental Army was also fighting on its home turf so it knew the land, shortcuts, problems areas and places to hide
  • British soldiers wore a long red coat with facings indicating which regiment the soldier was in, buttonholes trimmed with worsted lace and white buttons. The coat’s skirt had slits that were fastened open.
  • One major disadvantage of the British army was that it was fighting in a distant land. Britain had to ship soldiers and supplies across the Atlantic, which was very costly. The British army didn’t know the local terrain as well as the Continental Army. They could not fight the guerrilla-style warfare in the wilderness. The British army was fighting to protect a big empire that was spread out across the world. As a result, the army was spread very thin.
