Storyboard Description

First and Second Continental Congress

Storyboard Text

  • In the first continental congress, representatives from 12 of the 13 colonies discussed issues such as British taxation and their role in trade.
  • We talked about boycotting the Intolerable Acts.
  • There were commitees formed in every colony to observe that the colonists were boycotting the products.
  • We met here, in Philadelphia.
  • Our ultimate goal was to find a reasonable solution to the taxation and make peace between the colonies and the British.
  • The Second Continental Congress was formed soon after the American Revolutionary War had started.
  • We managed the colonial war effort, asked states to send supplies and men, and financed the war with borrowed funds.
  • With the help of The Continental Congress, the Patriots moved closer and closer to independence.
  • Our most important accomplishment was forming the Continental Army to fight against the British Army.
