First and Second Continental Congress
In the first continental congress, representatives from 12 of the 13 colonies discussed issues such as British taxation and their role in trade.
We talked about boycotting the Intolerable Acts.
There were commitees formed in every colony to observe that the colonists were boycotting the products.
We met here, in Philadelphia.
Our ultimate goal was to find a reasonable solution to the taxation and make peace between the colonies and the British.
The Second Continental Congress was formed soon after the American Revolutionary War had started.
We managed the colonial war effort, asked states to send supplies and men, and financed the war with borrowed funds.
With the help of The Continental Congress, the Patriots moved closer and closer to independence.
Our most important accomplishment was forming the Continental Army to fight against the British Army.
