  • "Come let us go. "Wither?" 'To you vaults. My friend, no; I will not impose upon your good nature. I perceive you have engagement. Luchresi--"I have no engagement --come. "My friend, no"Our Protagonist is trying to lure the man into the vault but in a very discrete way

  • They walked down to the vault and he sees the skeletons on the wall and he's kind of freaked out. "We passed through long walks of piled skeletons"I paused again, and this time I made bold to seize Fortunato by an arm above the elbow.
  • His intoxication wheres off and he begins to realize where he is. "I had scarcely laid the first of the masonry when I discovered that the intoxication of Fortunato had in great measure worn off."
  • He died. "i called out loud-- "Fortunato!!" No answer. I called again-- "Fortunato!" No answer still.
