Storyboard Text

  • Siddhartha (Later named Buddha) was born in India under the Kshatriya caste. His father was King Shuddhodana and his mother was the King's principal wife, Queen Maya.
  • Siddhartha was conceived by descending from Heaven and entered his mother's womb in the form of a white baby elephant- which is a symbol of purity.
  • Maya gave birth to Siddhartha on the full-moon day in May. The baby came out of her side as she stood and held onto a branch, which was rumoured to have lowered a branch down to help her give birth.
  • It is written that immediately after his birth, Siddhartha took seven steps and said "This is my last birth."
  • This is my last birth!
  • Sadly, one week after the baby's birth, Queen Maya passed away, so  Siddhartha was raised by his aunt.
  • Afraid that his son would become someone religious, the King vowed to make his son's life as pleasant as possible in hopes that he would never want to leave the palace.
