The year is 2002, a 17 year old girl is brought to court after being raped by a 15 year old boy.
The girl cries, as she's forced to hold up her underwear, as the Defence's argument that she was "asking for it"
I can't take this anymore. What I wear isn't consent. But no one can see that.
The girl, aged 17, kills herself.
Flash forward to 2018, where yet another teenage girl is on trial for a rape case. She is forced to hold up her underwear.
The lawyer then proceeds to say that she gave consent, because her she was wearing a lace thong.
This isn't right!
She's just a kid.
When are we going to stop blaming the victims, and start blaming the rapists? No matter what you wear, the only consent is a sober yes. Our rape laws aren't strong enough, in fact, even the president has been accused of sexual assault. A change needs to be made.
