A motorbike pulled up in front of the house and Fräulein Gleber tells Heidi to get dressed into some nice clothes. So they can go meet Führer.Heidi alone meet with Duffi, he asked Heidi some questions, she said yes to all of them because she thought that was what he wanted to hear, the Duffi left.
Late in the night Fräulein Gelber woke Heidi because the enemy Army was close. They drove during the dark night, Fräulein Gelber told Heidi to close her eyes and go to sleep but she just stared out the window and looked at the beautiful stars, even thought they could hear the enemy planes above them. Luckily they didn't spot them so they where safe. Eventually Heidi fell asleep.
Heidi and Fräulein Gelberer were hidden in a Bomb shelter. They could hear and feel the bomb going off above them. The were given minimal food twice a day. Fräulein Gelber stole some bread and escaped during the night to go and try and find her family. Heidi heard her father Hilter in a room nearby but he said he didn't know who was.
A caring solider came and told Heidi it was time to go, he took her through some tunnels to the train station when they got there he was hit with a bomb and he died. Heidi fell into a crater when another bomb went off and a lady and boy helped her out. Their daughter had been killed and Father was missing. They sheltered together and then tried to find the Americans for help.
Heidi found safety with the Schmidts, the people that found her. They pretended that Heidi was their daughter and were all moved to Australia together as refugees. Heidi studied in Australia and became a paediatrician. She got married and had 2 children. She never told anyone who she was except her Granddaughter Anna just before she died.
