chemical digestion started when they smelt me. Mechanical digestion begins when the teeth bite down on me and break me in small pieces . the salivary glands release saliva to make me mushy. amylase begin to break down my carbohydrates and the tongue starts to push me backwards
next i go through the pharynx and the esophageal sphincter opens to start my way through the esophagus. More saliva helps me slide down and muscles make wave motions called peristalsis to push me down to the stomach.
the stomach wall contracts and breaks me down even smaller and then the stomach juices start to flow. Hydrochloric acid and pepsin melt me into my base proteins and lipids and leave me as a soupy mass called chyme.
now i am entering the duodenum in the small intestine. Pancreatic juices start on me now digesting my carbs and seperating my proteins. Bile from the liver and gall bladder mix my fats with water. I get pushed along while the walls are grabbing my sugars, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.
the large intestine is next and a giant sponge soaks up all my left over water while i am getting squeezed over and over again. all that is left of me is a dry bundle of waste
now i am coming to the end some friendly bacteria are eating up the last of my amino acids and leaving a nasty nitrogen smell. muscles start to push me out of the rectum. I am poop!
