Ancient Egypt - Religion and Afterlife

Storyboard Text

  • Egyptians believe in many gods.  Their  religion is known as polytheism.
  • Our gods are present in the forces and elements of nature.
  • Ancient Egyptians also believe in afterlife.
  • When you die, you go to the underworld where Osiris judges you.
  • He weighs your heart against the feather (symbol of truth).
  • If heart is  light (innocence),  one goes to the OTHER WORLD (Happy Field Of Flood) . If heart is heavy,  one is fed to Ammit,  the Devourer of Souls,  crocodile shaped eater of the Dead.
  • Everything we do, receive, give are dependent on the gods  who are believed to be the power behind everything.
  • The Egyptians believe in life after death, that's why when they bury their dead they send with it jewelries, money, and other valuables they believe  the deceased will need or use  in the afterlife. Since they believe that the gods are also present in the element of energy and nature, the scientific  reasons and  findings  are not given their due credit and so this will  hinder the the progress of science  and technology.
