  • This is handy. There's important information that I don't want just anyone to be able to see
  • I'll have the code sent to my phone as a text message. I always have my phone on me, so I should always be able to get my code

  • That wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
  • She is used to access codes. To her, it is just like being sent an email with a code to confirm that the provided email address is valid, especially as she would read her email on her phone instead of her computer
  • She completes registering for the service
  • Whilst she feels that she would always have her phone with her, when presented with the option to set up a second method of getting access codes, she thinks about how she might not have reception, or her phone might be in a different room, or out of battery. This prompts her to consider that a second method might not be a bad idea
  • Waits for confirmation that she is registered for the service
  • She likes the fact that everything has been pulled together into one place, and she doesn't have to do more work than necessary to register for Gateway.
  • She  uses the service that she has registered for
  • Now that her Government Gateway is set up, she continues with the registration process for the service she was signing up for
  • What is your postcode?
  • Continue
  • What else do they want now? Let's get this over and done with.
  • She doesn't like being told to check her progress online, if when she does so, there is no actual progress information
  • Application Submitted
  • Continue
  • I wonder when I'll be set up on the service. They always say I can check online, but never actually telling me anything when I go to look.
  • She can now sign in with Government Gateway, to take care of her tax matters.
  • Sign in using Gov.uk Verify
  • Sign in using Government Gateway
  • Register for new account
  • Personal Tax Account
  • Okay. I should now be able to claim my working tax credits.
