Jethro's mother Ellen is sick in bed with a headache because she ran out of coffee. He needed to go get coffee from Nancy to help her. Nancy was pleased to give him the coffee to help her get better.

Jethro was trusted to go into town to get food and other things needed and to do the chores in town as well. He had to ready his horses and eat breakfast. His mother gave him some of her coffee to keep him warm.
Here is the newspaper ye asked fer.
Thank you very much fer this.
Jethro was stopped by an older man that wanted him to get a newspaper. He explained to him that he wanted it to see if his grandson was mentioned in it. Jethro agreed to do it and added it to his list of things to get.
What happened while ye were out?
As I was doing the chores, a man asked me about Bill and the editor helped me with the horses. When I was riding back, Dave Burdow helped me get back safely.
After Jethro got everything he needed and he was leaving the general store, he was stopped by a man. The man was named Guy Wortman and asked him if he knew why Bill joined the Confederate army. He said he did not know and told him he still respected him.
As Jethro was riding home, Dave Burdow got into his coach with him and said he wanted to keep him safe. He took a hold of the reins and they stopped by the old man and gave him the newspaper.
Jethro got home and told his parents all about what had happened in town. He told them how Ross Milton had bought him dinner and helped him with his horses. He also told them about how Dave Burdow had protectd him on his way home.
