Charles Deslondes was a slave driver on the Andry sugar plantation in the German Coast area of Louisiana.
Charles, inspired by the Haitian revolt, rallied the other slaves to rebel.
Charles and the slaves, killed their slavers and their family.
Armed with weapons, Charles and followers moved toward New Orleans gaining more followers as they moved.
The South Carolina congressman, slave master and Indian fighter Wade Hampton was assigned the task of suppressing the insurrection.
After a giant fight, sadly Charles Deslondes lost due to lack of military experience.
