  • The Election of Lincoln - 1860 - Won in the North, not South - South Carolina, followed by six other states, seceded from the union and became The Confederate States of America
  •  Fort Sumter - Abraham Lincoln thought that the Confederate States had no right to sucede - Lincoln wanted to keep the Union as one and would do whatever it takes to do so. The Confederates took action at Fort Sumter - Start of the Civil War
  • Emancipation Proclamation - Abraham Lincoln opposed slavery  - He made the Emancipation proclamation to free the slaves - The slaves were eventually freed and caused more tensions with the North and South
  •  Battle at Gettysburg - Bloodiest war during the Civil War - Leading up to Robert E. Lee invading the North - Turning point for the Civil War
  • Gettysburg Address - A famous speech by Abraham Lincoln - It was about all men being equal  - He thought everyone should come back as one 
  • Appomattox - Where Lees surrendered to Grant -
