The Spanish Armada set sail form Spain in July1588.
The Spanish Armada's task was to over throw Protestant England lead by Queen Elizabeth I.
They sailed late. Instead of sailing in April of 1587they hit a terrible storm, sending 100s of their ships to be repaired.
The Spanish Armada was important because, they attempted to keep their Catholic religion.
The Spanish Armada failed to overthrow the English and Queen Elizabeth II. Some say the had bad weather and bad sailors.
Religious problems they had were trying to defend their religion causing them to go to war and causing controversy between the Catholics and the Spanish.
