Montag meets Clarisse on the way home from work and she is the only person who does not seem afraid of him. Montag is confused by the way she acts as she loves nature, talking to her family and seems to notice just about everything and anything in the world. She also seems to know more than Montag, which irritates him as he is used to knowing everything.
The One Where Montag Finds Out Why Books Are Bad
Montag is called to burn books in a house but the lady who lives in the house wants to keep her books. She refuses t leave the house and thus, the firemen have no choice but to burn down to house together with the lady and her books. Montag was shocked to see that some was willing to sacrifice themselves and die for books. He steals a book and brings it home to read, wanting to find out more about the significance of books.
The One Where Montag Burns His House and Beatty
When Montag's wife Mildred has some people over, Montag takes this opportunity to read the book to the guests, trying to convince them that reading is something that they should celebrate and not be afraid of. The guests become scared as he reads and leave the house quickly in fear.
The One Where They Start Over
Montag decides to ask Beatty about why books are banned. Beatty angrily tells him that books hold knowledge that can be used against the government if the public understand the content. Books can help the public over throw the government and thus, to make sure that the people do not go against the government, all copies of books are burned.
Beatty tasks Montag to burn his own house after Montag's wife, Mildred, calls the authorities on him. Montag reluctantly burns his house and Beatty arrests him. Beatty taunts Montag to trigger him into burning Beatty alive, killing Beatty. As Montag looks on at Beatty's burning body, he realises that Beatty wanted Montag to kill him so that he could die.
While Montag is on the run from the authorities, a missile hits the city and kills everyone in the city. Montag meets up with other book lovers outside the city and looks at the rubbles
