Storyboard Text

  • Long ago, there was a king named Numitor. He had a brother, Amulius, and a daughter, Rhea Sylvia. His brother seized the throne and banished the two. His father to the north and his niece to the temple of Mars, god of war.
  • Her uncle forced to become a vestal virgin so she could not have kids, who would seize the throne. At this temple she met Mars, and they fell in love! They had two twin kids named Romulus and Remus.
  • When the were born, Amulius seized them and threw them in the Tiber river to drown. The babies floated for a while, but were eventually found by a she-wolf who cared for them as her own.
  • The boys were, one day, found a Shepard named Faustulus. Who looked after the children, and taught them how to behave like humans. One day the boys found out who they really were and decided to kill Amulius.
  • The boys successfully defeated Amulius and reinstated their father as king. After that they each built their on city. Romulus built his on the Palatine Hill. Remus on the Aventine Hill.
  • One day Remus jumped over Romulus’s wall and mocked him, saying anyone could break into his city. So he killed him and named the city Rome after his name. He lived a long life as the first king of Rome in 753 BCE. He, unfourtuanatelly, died and was carried off into the heavens as the god Quirinus.
