The Mexican-American War was a fight for land between Mexico and the United States. The United States and Mexico both fought back and forth for this part of land. In the end Mexico almost gave up but they didn't.
The war started when General Taylor attacked soldiers from the United states. Under the command of General Taylor they killed about a dozen US soldiers. After this they met up at Rio Grande for a fight.

After the United States won the land they signed a treaty to make the land official. The treaty was called The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and it was signed on February 2,1848. The lands sold were California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

The Mexican American war is connected to Chicanos in many different ways. One way its connected is that many Chicanos lost their home and had to leave. Another reason it connects to Chicanos is that it affected Mexican Americans because they had to pick sides
