We are orphans in hiding. They are looking for us.
Be very careful!!! You never know when they might catch us.
Hello, I am Chaviva.
It was a cold morning when the fire shots yelled into the sky. I quickly scrambled behind a miniature building. I heard elephant footsteps coming toward me. I realized it was the Nazis. Not knowing what to do, I quickly ran further in the pathway that separated the small house and the other house in front of it. I was so scared not only for myself, but a young child I was carrying. I was also pregnant with another child, on my sixth month. I wanted to save my sister that was stuck in the ghetto. I had no one to leave my children with because my husband died three months after I got pregnant with my second child. I lived in hiding with my sister, but for now I am alone.
My name is Yehoshua.
My name is Esther.
My name is Levana. I appreciate your help.
I gasped when I saw four Jewish children. One of them was about sixteen, the other one about five, ten, and the last one was about twelve. They cried out when they saw me. I whispered them to be quiet. They saw the child I was carrying and quickly silenced.
My family is gone. Only my children. My husband died by the bloody hands of the Nazi. My sister was taken into the ghettos.
Where is your family?
I led them to our hiding place. We were hiding from Nazis who kept on guarding Germany. We hid in different places during the way because the Nazis were passing by. One hiding spot we hid in was a house. I looked around to check that we were alone and gestured the kids to be quiet. I walked in and led them to a painting. I moved it aside and led the young ones inside a hole that was carved in the wall.
I need to think of how to raise you up, without getting killed, and get my sister out.
If you allow us to stay, then I do. Thank you. What are we doing next?
We were now going to live with one another. No one knows for how long because we don't know how long the war will last. I needed to know their names and a little about them.
We got to know each other and i started to open up. I mostly talked to Levana as she the other ones were not as talkative as her. She listened intently. She gasped at the right moments, and nodded when needed.
I took care of the four children and finally got the chance to save my sister. Three months later God blessed me with a gift, a baby girl.
