It was my first day arriving in Ghana International Airport. The country located in West Africa has a really hot climate and tropical weather. The roads were really sandy and dusty.
At first, i was a bit anxious and believed i wasn't going to enjoy my time in a different country.
GETTING TO EXPLORE GHANA
First thing i got to try , was a coconut. I met a man outside the airport who was cutting coconut shells in half and selling the juice inside the shells.
LEARNING ABOUT THE HISTORY OF GHANA
I got to meet my aunt, cousins, and other relatives. I also got to meet my grandmother who i hadnt seen since i was a toddler. Our grandmother embraced us with tears of joy. I hadn’t seen her sine I was a toddler and all the good memories came rushing at me. I couldn’t help but smile as I gave her a tight hug
We went on trips to beaches, visited the zoo, and even got to visit the Flagstaff House. The Flagstaff House is the presidential palace of Ghana and is ranked the 10th most beautiful palace in the world. It was nice to see the different statues and the history they represented
I learned about how Ghana gained its independence from the British and the fact that it became the first country to do so. Also, I got to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in the capitol city of Accra. Kwame Nkrumah became the first president of Ghana after leading it to its independence
