Rainsford calls, " 'Ugh! It's like moist black velvet' "(Connell 60).
The main character is Rainsford and he is heading to Ship-Trap Island.
The Most Dangerous Game
The text defines, "He realized he had reached too far and had lost his balance. The cry was pinched off short as the blood-warm waters of Caribbean Sea closed over his head"(Connell 63).
Rainsford falls off the yacht and swims to Ship-Trap Island.
Rainsford arrived at the island and met General Zaroff. He realized that Zaroff hunts other people.
According to the text, "Automatically Rainsford shook the man's hand. 'I've read your book about hunting snow leopards in Tibet, you see," explained the man, "I am General Zaroff' "(Connell 66).
Rainsford starts to play the hunting game with Zaroff.
The following was mentioned in the text, "He filled Rainsford's glass with venerable Chablis from a dusty bottle. 'Tonight,' said the general, 'we will hunt---you and I' "(Connell 73).
"Down a watercourse, not a quarter of a mile away, he could see the bush moving. Straining his eyes, he saw the lean figure of General Zaroff"(Connell 78).
Zaroff kept a pistol with him, but Rainsford was staying strong in order to live.
Zaroff emphasizes, " 'Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent beds. On guard, Rainsford.' He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided"(Connell 80).
The lesson learned in this story is that if you perform good deeds in life, then you'll probably have good things in return such as Rainsford. Zaroff, however, died because of the negative deeds he performed.
